The Nelson's Reception!

Well, the honeymoon is over...at least as far as vacationing goes! Patricia is back at work and Taylor goes back on Monday! We have thoroughly enjoyed the last week of being able to just hang out with each other. What a blessing it is to have your best friend by your side every minute of the day! Even when we have to be apart for the day, we get to start and end each day with each other. How awesome is that? We have had many fun adventures and lots of funny stories to share! We have adapted to our "blogging life" quite well it seems, anytime something funny happens we say "that's totally blog worthy!" HA HA!

We'll begin with the prewedding stuff...

Taylor's parents' house was full of fun and excitement for a few days with Scott & Christine (Taylor's brother and sister-in-law who live with his parents temporarily), their 2 little boys; Ryan & Bonnie (Taylor's other brother & Sister-in-law from Utah), their 2 little boys; David (Taylor's friend who flew in from Florida), Taylor, and Ashley (Taylor's sister)! So it was quite a house full as you could imagine.

On Friday Patricia got to enjoy a day of pampering thanks to her mom. Patricia and her younger sister, Emily, their mom, and Emily's friend, Megan, had half hour massages (Megan got a pedicure instead) then got their nails done. It was a fun day! Erin was able to join us later in the day to help with the food prep for the reception. Patricia's mom, her sisters Erin & Emily, Emily's friend Megan, and Patricia all spent about 3 hours cooking hamburger meat, chopping tomatoes, olives, and onions for the taco bar at the reception. Patricia was touched to see that everyone had tears in their eyes until she too caught a whiff of the freshly cut onions. :-) Friday night we had a delicious bar-b-q at Taylor's parents' house. We had smoked turkey and brisket. It was so fun to have everyone together!

Saturday the festivities began with a hair appointment for all the Sherman girls at J.C. Penny's Salon at 9 am. Barbara (Patricia's mom) won the prize for the most dramatic change taking about 6 inches off! All the girls looked charming! Since the hair appointment took a little longer then expected Patricia was rushed back to the hotel room where her family was staying. Erin and Emily showed off their hidden talents and did a beautiful job on Patricia's makeup! Taylor met Patricia at the steps of the temple at 11am. They walked hand and hand into to the temple where they were greeted by some of the most choice men and women who helped to make sure that everything went smoothly for the special day. It was so nice to be able to be in the temple and just feel the peace and certainty of the decision to be married. What a wonderful feeling it was to walk into the sealing room and see some of our closest friends and family sitting waiting with love and support for us.

Then the real fun began... time for the reception! Patricia got to be the spoiled bride and got yelled at any time she tried to help with decorating. She quickly learned that this is probably one of the few times she would get in trouble for trying to help and decided to soak up every minute of it. She really enjoyed bossing everyone around... it was good practice for married life!

The reception was beautiful... we had about 100 people!

It was especially great to have Patricia's 94 year old Granny there!

The first dance song was "The Answer" by Sarah McLachlan.

Taylor and his mom and Patricia and her dad shared a dance to "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion.

Emily (Patricia's younger sister) caught the bouquet. We cut the cake and Patricia, being the loving, gentle soul that she is, so sweetly fed it to her new husband while he shoved it her face... how rude! :-)

It came time to leave and Taylor and Patricia were told to stay in the church while everyone went and lined up outside. Taylor's friend David came in and handed us a pair of scissors then said with a smile, "your truck is waiting for you"! We exited the church to find our truck covered... no, really... COVERED in toilet paper, saran wrap, posted notes, toilet paper, saran wrap, ribbons, writing, toilet paper, saran wrap, and full of balloons! It was quite a mess! We pealed out with Patricia yelling out the window "If the truck's a rockin'... don't come a knockin'!!!"!

We pulled into the nearest gas station to clean our windshield off so Taylor could see where he was driving. Patricia when to pump the gas but realized she forgot her wallet at the church... thanks for bringing it to us Em!

Our cakes were gorgeous (thanks mom & Christine), the photographer was great (thanks Kristen & Analise), DJ's were awesome (thanks Dustin & Kylee), cooks and servers were wonderful (thanks Jacksons, Matthews, & Shermans), company was delightful! Thanks to everyone who came and those who so willingly helped out! It was sure a fun time!

  1. I am so excited to be in our new house and actually have time to check out blogs now. What a sweet post. I love Tay wearing the mickey hat. I had fun getting that cake for him (and you) even if didn't taste very good! Pops still ate it no problem, though. You need to put up pics of Lacy. How is she doing by the way?
